Cobán is one of Guatemala's richest destinations in terms of nature and culture. Surrounded by mountains, rivers, caves, and coffee plantations, it's the ideal place for a short getaway to recharge your body and soul. Here's a simple and realistic guide to help you make the most of your visit.
Day 1: Arrival, relaxation, and nature. Take advantage of the afternoon to walk among the gardens, breathe fresh air, and enjoy a sunset overlooking the forest. End with a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant featuring regional flavors.
Day 2: History, Coffee, and Orchids Start the day with a traditional breakfast and fuel up for exploring. You can visit downtown Cobán, explore its cathedral, convent, and markets. Then, take a coffee tour at Finca Chicoj or visit Orquigonia, where you can see one of the largest orchid collections in the country.
Day 3: Nature on a grand scale. If you decide to stay an extra day, we recommend visiting Semuc Champey or the Lanquín Caves. They're unforgettable destinations, with natural pools, rivers, and jungle adventures.
